Laxdale Hall (1953)

Come along and enjoy a Scots romantic comedy, shot on the Applecross peninsula, in which a few Highlanders refuse to pay their road tax, causing havoc amongst Westminster bureaucrats - starring Fulton Mackay, Rikki Fulton, Ian MacNaughton and Prunella Scales in her first film role.

This is what  Peter Burnett, Scotland on Film, says about it:

“Laxdale Hall is in fact Passport to Pimlico and The Titfield Thunderbolt, with Whisky Galore thrown over it. It has the same theme, the most enjoyable characters and is shot in beautiful bonny Scotland. It’s truly a wee cracker.”

“a potential outbreak of anarchy in the Highlands

“Highlanders taking Sassenachs to the cleaners”

Followed by THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING (Tweeddale Society members only)
