Eastgate Theatre, Peebles, 7.30 p.m.

Louise Forsyth gives an insight into the varied role of ‘The Butcher’s Wife’. This includes the day to day running of their successful high street business and just what is involved behind the scenes. Her role is sourcing livestock which she does on a weekly basis at the Mart combined with farm visits, which have become more important as many customers want to know the “provenance” of the meat.

This talk will explore the many challenges facing the farming industry industry and the many things which can go wrong.  Louise will also explain why it is so important for all of us to support Scottish farming and produce.

Louise Forsyth was born and brought up in Africa, educated in Helensburgh and at Aberdeen University, before she married into the family business of Forsyths Butchers and Bakers in Peebles.

It has been a very varied 30+ years as ‘The Butcher’s Wife’, helping Forsyths become this permanent feature on Peebles High Street, as can be seen in the large number of customers queuing patiently for those prize cuts and pies.
