The Tweeddale Society is committed to maintaining the trust and confidence of our members, supporters, visitors to our web site and subscribers to our newsletter.
In this Privacy Policy, you’ll find information on when and why we collect your personal information, how we use it and how we keep it secure.
Visitors to our Website
When someone visits www.tweeddale-society.org.uk we use a third party service to collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns. We do this to find out things such as the number of visitors to the various parts of the site. This information is only processed in a way which does not identify anyone and we do not make any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting our website.
Membership and Mailing Lists
As part of the application process for membership of The Tweeddale Society, or to join our mailing list, we collect certain personal information. We do not share personal information with other organisations. We may process your personal information for our legitimate interests (see ‘Legitimate Interests’ section below).
You can unsubscribe from general e-mailings at any time by clicking the ‘unsubscribe’ link at the bottom of any of our emails or by emailing secretary@tweeddale-society.org.uk. You can ask to be removed from our distribution list for paper copies of newsletters, season brochures etc either by emailing as above, or by writing to any member of The Tweeddale Society Committee.
Legitimate Interests
“Legitimate interests” means the interests of The Tweeddale Society in conducting and managing the organisation. We use your personal information:
- to maintain a register of members, as required by our Constitution;
- to issue relevant information to members eg notice of General Meetings;
- to send out newsletters containing information about The Tweeddale Society, our talks, our outings and other related events in the Tweeddale area;
- to distribute information about forthcoming talks, events and to invite membership application or renewal.
Our legitimate interests do not automatically override your personal rights and interests; we will not use your personal data for activities where our interests are overridden by the impact on you (unless we have your consent or are otherwise required or permitted to by law). If you have any concerns you have the right to object to processing that is based on our legitimate interests.
Ticketing Data
When you purchase a ticket (or tickets) for our concerts at the Eastgate Theatre Box Office or online, you will be asked for certain personal information. This information will be stored and used in accordance with the Eastgate Theatre privacy policy. From time to time, The Tweeddale Society may request that the Eastgate Theatre supply personal data relating to purchasers of tickets for our talks and events. Such requests will be handled in accordance with the Data Sharing Agreement in place between the two organisations.
Access to your personal information
You are entitled to view, amend, or delete the personal information that we hold about you. Email your request to our data controller, secretary@tweeddale-society.org.uk
