From the day she was born until her execution in Fotheringhay Castle, Mary, Queen of Scots was at the mercy of those around her.
Rosemary Goring will look at family, friends and courtiers who remained loyal to the end. Were they outnumbered by those best described as traitors, who helped seal her tragic fate?

Rosemary Goring is the author of two novels, ‘After Flodden’ and ‘Dacre’s War’, and several works on Scottish history, including ‘Scotland: Her Story’, ‘Homecoming: The Scottish Years of Mary, Queen of Scots’ and ‘Exile: The English Years of Mary, Queen of Scots’.
She is a columnist with The Herald and abridges books for Radio 4. Born in Dunbar, she studied at the University of St Andrews, worked in newspapers for many years and now lives in the Borders.
