The Tweeddale Society
Welcome to The Tweeddale Society. Our aims are the study and sharing of all aspects of our environment and culture, past, present and future through talks, visits and publications with particular but not exclusive relevance to Tweeddale and the Scottish Borders.
Talks are held on the second Tuesday of each month from October to March at 7.30pm in the auditorium of the Eastgate Theatre, Peebles. Each talk will conclude with a Question and Answer session plus an opportunity to talk directly to the speaker.
Over the years we have been fortunate to have had a number of Presidents with outstanding qualities who have left their mark on the Society. We dedicate two of the talks in our annual programme to the memory of two past Presidents as a token of our esteem.
The Halkett Hendrie Memorial Lecture
In the subject area of archaeology. This is presented jointly with Peeblesshire Archaeological Society which chooses the speaker in alternate years.
