Getting The Most Out Of Scotland’s People

This talk by Veronica Schreuder will provide an introduction to Scotland’s People, the online research service provided by National Records of Scotland, where you can access digital images of statutory registers of births, deaths and marriages (post 1855); the Census; Old Parish Registers (pre 1855); legal records and more.

Veronica will look at this diverse material, including some interesting and surprising examples, explaining what the records are and how you can access and use them and get the most out of the website for family history research.

Veronica Schreuder is an archivist in the Outreach and Learning team at National Records of Scotland.

She researches and writes for the Scotland’s People website, develops exhibitions and welcomes groups of all ages to General Register House, Edinburgh, where they can discover more about the collections held in the archives.
